Communication and Dissemination

Raising awareness of the importance of palm groves in a context of climate change represents one of the specific objectives of LIFE Phoenix, trying to involve the different sectors of the local population. This task is aimed at a wide variety of audiences through schools, local associations, professional associations and public events related to the project's topic. The planned activities can be summarised as follows:

  • Talks and workshops: activities which, depending on the characteristics of the event, the audience and the venue, may take the format of a thematic talk or workshop. At least 100 events are expected to be held between 2024 and 2028, designed for an average of 10-30 people; approximately 1,500 people (including students) will be able to participate.
  • Social media campaigns: planned to run from 2024 to 2028, during the last year special efforts will be dedicated to the dissemination of the final results of the project. An estimated number of 50,000 people are expected to be reached between the two regions.
  • Participation in local and regional agricultural and ornamental plant fairs: the LIFE Phoenix team will participate in at least 2 fairs in both regions during the duration of the project (with an estimated number of 10,000 visitors). This will be an opportunity to reach a good percentage of people working in sectors related to the project. The Working Groups created in task T.2.4 will help to organise participation in such events.
  • Celebration of the Tree Day with a special mention for the palm tree: from 2025 onwards and every 21 March, coinciding with the UN International Day of Forests, LIFE Phoenix will participate in the celebration with a special mention for the palm tree. The activity will be channelled in both countries through local and regional governments to reach out to the primary and secondary school community. Schools will be invited to collect seedlings from the project nurseries and to share on their social networks the activities developed for this celebration in coordination with the LIFE Phoenix team.
  • Final press release: in addition to other punctual communications during the project, a final press release will be organised in each country in order to disseminate the final results of the project to the general public. The expected final media impact is estimated to be at least 20,000 people.
